The Vocalis Consort strives to feature works that have been traditionally overlooked.
In addition to excelling in performing the core of the mélodie and Lied repertoire, Vocalis aims to broaden the scope of the art song recital beyond the “traditional” Western European canon.
We have presented programs featuring exclusively Peruvian composers, French cabaret songs, and American composers. Recently, our program La Contradanza explored racial and musical metissage in Latin American art songs, and our Crossing Genres program offered a combination of Broadway, folk, and popular songs performed acoustically.
